British School brings Junior Golf Academy for tricity children

The British School Chandigarh has come up with Junior Gold Academy to make golf affordable and accessible to the children of tricity.

President of Golf Club Birender Singh Gill, Captain IPS Mann and Honorary Secretary SPS Ghai inaugurated the academy today. Speaking at the occasion Birender Singh Gill exhorted efforts of school in establishing and bringing children closer to this game.

Principal Mona Shri Sethi said that two greens and a bunker have already been laid under supervision of Manjit Kochar, Director Overseas, Jr. Golf Development Programme, ICGA, Canada and a Golf Teaching Professional at Chandigarh Golf Club. Manjit Kochar will conduct the academy.

Golf would be a part of school curriculum and every child would be allowed to learn the game. The greens would be open to the children from all schools aged 4 - 14 years and classes for same would be held in evening.

“The goal of academy is to make golf affordable and accessible to children of tricity. The academy will provide all necessary equipment including golf sets, golf balls etc during the training programme to each participant,” she said. She added that admission for spring session has already begun and academy will start functioning from February 7.

Coach Manjit Kochar said that young children will be introduced to golf's rich traditions, demonstration and training of basic fundamentals including putting, chipping, short and long irons, golf etiquette and basic rules. Interested children may contact him at (9815554788 OR 01722624400).
