TMS initiates unique fitness programme
Mohali, March 11.2010
The Millennium School Mohali launches a unique structured fitness program for children integrated with school curriculum in order to ensure health of its students.
The Millennium School believes in rule of healthy mind in a healthy body and follows it religiously. The programme has been specially launched keeping this mantra in mind wherein students’ physical fitness will be taken care of with help of well laid out sports programme.
“We do not believe in goading our students just to perform academically well. We aim overall development and for that our emphasis would be to address their physical training needs,” said principal Komal Singh.
EduSports uses structured physical activity and sports as a pedagogical tool for developing mental skills, behavioral skills, and physical conditioning in children.
“Under this programme we would offer structured physical activity and sports curriculum (based on development characteristics of children), along with relevant props and equipment to conduct activities and series of intensive workshops/ interactions with school teachers and parents to deliver overall programme,” she added.
She said that the school aimed to get physical exercise as much as is required for students and the best way is to expose student to type of sports he or she is interested in. She reasons that children should have exposure to a multiple sports programme when they are five years old. Also exposure to various sports could be facilitated. From fifth standard, children are asked to choose two sports they are interested in. From seventh standard, they could specialize in a single sport.
The Millennium School Mohali today conducted a parent interaction sessions / presentations at school.
