Chandigarh, April 5,2010
The parents of tiny tots of new millennium now have an opportunity to get best of the international standard pre-schooling and day care for their children at Maple Bear – a Canadian Early Childhood Program established at Stepping Stones School, Sector 37 Chandigarh. Maple Bear, which is a part of the international chain of preschools, has been launched in the tri-city in collaboration with Manuja Foundation.
Talking to media persons here today, Aarti Manuja, Managing Director, Manuja Foundation Maple Bear said that this is first-of-its kind preschool in tri-city, we would create an environment that facilitates children from 18 months onwards to achieve their developmental milestones at the right age.
Maple Bear Centre will operate from 9 am to 6 pm, thus facilitating the parents, especially both working parents to leave their kids in educated home environment. “Program is especially designed for 3 hours, 6 hours and 9 hours slot. The slots have been designed keeping in view the societal needs and commitments of present generation parents,” she added.
While detailing about Maple Bear Early Childhood Program president Global Schools Maple Bear Rodney Briggs said that school’s methodology works on making children learn through experience and exploration.
“Going to a Learning Centre, should be a pleasurable experience for child that he or she looks forward to everyday. This creates the eagerness to learn things, inculcate positive attitude and confidence needed in today’s world,” he said.
“These are community based units; so, we shall endeavour to develop multiple small units in the cities so that young kids are not made to commute long distances to attend the facility” said Sarita Manuja, the chairperson.
The centre has introduced the concept of transparent classrooms that would enable parents to watch their child attending the centre, online while at work or from home. Unique programs like Moms and Tots, Saturday Program, Spring/Summer/Winter Camps on one hand and the trained human resource, flexible entry and exit timings on the other hand, are the other highlights of the Centre.
Briggs felt that the kind of knowledge and skills, a child acquires during his or her kindergarten days, forms foundation of the years of schooling, college education and the life as a whole, to come.
“Our impetus is not on making children study. We aim at making education a part of life and not a burden. We have string of activities embedded in day-to-day working in healthy, stimulating and supportive learning environment,” he added.
“It recognizes English literacy as fundamental component of a child's success in English medium schools and has ensured that language development, books and reading are central to all activities in program.”
Understanding the present scenario of parents frequently changing stations, Maple Bear provides for inter centre transfers too. Program is being offered in several cities in India like Delhi, Gorakhpur, Chandigarh, Indirapuram, Greater Noida, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kanpur, Indore, Dehradun, Beawar (Ajmer), Agra, Amritsar, Meerut, Gurgoan, Vishakapatnam, Bangalore, Chennai and across the world in Bangladesh, Korea, Brazil, Vietnam, Paris, Turkey, Morocco and China.
Principal Anu Kumar of Stepping Stones remarked,”We recognize Maple Bear philosophy because we endorse that play is the serious work of children. Its their passage to learning; they are grasping new knowledge every minute and applying the same. Its an exercise for mind and creativity”.
Later in the evening inaugural function was organized in the school premises wherein facility center for toddlers was inaugurated.
Chief guest at the occasion was Rodney Briggs, President Global Schools Maple Bear. Guests of honor included Gurbans Sobti, Senior Trade Commissioner, Canadian Consulate, Chandigarh and Gurvinder S. Bahra, Chairman Rayat & Bahra Group.
