Punjab Infotech and Rayat-Bahra Group of Institutes has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for coming up Rayat Bahra – Punjab Infotech training / finishing school to make engineering students pass out industry made and more employable.

Only one-fourth of engineering pass outs are industry oriented and rest all others lack technical edge needed to excel in industry, said chairman Punjab Infotech, Harjit Singh Grewal. “The 25 percent of engineering pass outs seriously lack English proficiency and critical thinking. Ironically, these skills are the ones that the IT and IT enabled services industry is looking for,” he added.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman Rayat Bahra Group said, " we are sensitive to the need for training of employability skills to the technical and professional graduates. Hence we have come up with the concept of an exclusive finishing school under the banner of Rayat Bahra - Punjab Infotech Finishing School. 20000 engineers passing out of 68 engineering colleges of the state shall thus be addressed in order to be industry ready".

He added, “In the scenario when India is emerging as a major player in the global economy, global competitiveness of Indian Industry is an essential ingredient. By this endeavor we shall facilitate our youth to integrate with the world economy. We shall deploy the best our resources to achieve the targets set for us by Govt of Punjab through Punjab Infotech".

Rayat Bahra – Punjab Infotech training / finishing school would bridge gap between requirement and availability of trained manpower in hi-tech area. Under its multi-pronged strategy, the finishing school will deal with teacher training, student training and live projects training.

Grewal said that Punjab Infotech will facilitate in developing programs including course curriculum and courseware as per industry requirement. “Candidates successfully completing the courses would be awarded certification. We would also facilitate in training the faculty of Rayat-Bahra on latest technology, frame guidelines for monitoring quality of training and give pre and post industrial training to the students in marketing campaigns,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rayat-Bahra would depute coordinator for this collaboration who will serve as primary contact for implementation and management of RB-Punjab Infotech Finishing School. The group would also provide facilities and equipment that will allow for both on-site and remote instruction and research.

Mr. Rakesh Kumar Verma, Managing Director, Punjab Infotech added that this step would equip Punjab with industry oriented students.

Mr. Sandeep Kaura Asst Managing Director, Rayat- Bahra group said that finishing school would go a long way in producing readily employable engineers.
