Minerva gets underway at Rayat-Bahra
National techno-cultural symposium Minerva starts at Rayat-Bahra
Ropar, November 7
National techno-cultural symposium Minerva 2009 at Rayat Institute of Engineering & Information Technology, Railmajra got underway today amidst thousands of students from various states participating in multihued activities.
Chief guest at the occasion Prof. Ranjit Singh, Executive Secretary cum Programme Director, ISTE New Delhi was the chief guest of the occasion, while Prof. D. S. Hira, Vice-President, ISTE New Delhi presided over the inaugural function.
Prof. R. P. S. Suker-Chakia , Chairman, ISTE Section (Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and J&K) delivered the key note address. Guest of honors at the occasion remained Prof. Kuldeep Singh Sayann, formerl Chairman, ISTE Delhi Section and Prof. Col. (Retd.) Karamjeet Singh, Director, CIET Fatehgarh Sahib.
This event is being held in along with two days annual students’ convention of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) hosting national seminar on global opportunities and challenges of technical students.
More than fifty colleges are participating in this technical cum cultural symposium from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, J&K, Delhi, Chandigarh, Orrisa, M.P etc Around 4000 students thronged the Rayat-Bahra institute campus to be a part of the fest.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice Chairman Rayat-Bahra Group said hosting this national event has posed a challenge and given refreshing opportunity to the Rayat-Bahra Group of Institutes. “Such platforms act as apt place for exchange of thoughts for students as well as faculty members,” he added.
Prof. S. C. Bedi, Director, Rayat Institute Engineering and Information Technology said that the staff members and students have put in hard work to make this event a great success.
The first day hosted interesting workshops on ethical hacking, animation and salsa. The day was competition in tarunum singing in English, Hindi, Punjabi, folk.
In debugging the circuit event Nitish Passi, Navdeep Pal of Rayat Engineering secured first place, Umesh Goel, Nishant Bansal of Chitkara secured second place and Rahul, Kushal, Amanpreet Kaur of CEM stood third.
In rangoli making Akankasha,Tanu of AIET secured first place, Nisha, Amrita of AIET secured second place and Sarabjeet, Shweta of Rayat Engineering stood third.
In tatoo making Suresh Bhatt, Ankit Sood of NIT, Hamirpur secured first place, Harsimran, Gaurav of SPCET secured second place and Jai Singh, Ranjot Singh of Rayat Institute Pharmacy stood third.
In Cadence contest Sukhwinder, Mandeep of GNDP, LUDHAINA secured first rank, Anil Kumar Salhotra of R.I.E.I.T stood second and Jatinder, Inderjeet of R.I.E.I.T stood third.
In FETCHING D VIRTUE contest team of Ashok Sharma, Prabhjot, Vishal Kumar, Harsimran , Harpreet, Harman Sidhu,Vishnu, Jugraj of GIMET secured first place, Amarjot, Aashpreet, Gaurav, Navjot, Savita, Pankaj, Vinay of R.I.E.I.T stood second place and Nitish, Arjun, Vivek, Hitesh, Rahul, Vishal, Rishi, Nidhi, Priyanaka,
Hemant, Harsimran, Pavan,Inderjeet RBIENT,Hoshiarpur stood third.
In MR.TURBUNAROR contest Amritpal Singh of R.I.E.I.T stood first, Jaswant Singh R.I.E.I.T secured second place and Karanvir Singh of Y.C.O.E. stood third.
