International conference on endoscopic spine surgery concludes


Delegates perform on cadavers at final day of international conference

Chandigarh, November 14
The international conference on endoscopic spine surgery concluded at Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital Banur with the participating delegates performing the procedure, taught during conference, on cadavers and plastic spine models.
Chandigarh Chapter of Indian Orthopaedic Association has organized this conference in collaboration with Arthroscopy and Spinal Endoscopy Centre, Sector 20C, Chandigarh. The participants were delivered lecture on endospine features, operative technique of endoscopic disc surgery.
Over hundred Indian and foreign doctors, especially neuro and orthopaedic surgeons, with interest in endoscopic spine surgery had participated in this conference whose primary aim was to make spine surgery less traumatic for patients devising the endoscopic method.
Delegates performed these procedures on cadavers and plastic models of spine under supervision of Dr Jean Destandau, from Bordeaux, France the pioneer of endoscopic surgery technique. The intensive two day course training has instilled a confidence among surgeons to perform these endoscopic spine procedures in their hospitals, thus advancing the treatment of spine disorders.
The course concluded with closing remarks and thanks by Dr Mohinder Kaushal organizing chairman on behalf of organizing committee of the endospine course 2009 to all course participants making this course a value based by their participation and deliberations.
