Founders’ day celebrations begin at CGI

Jaskaran Singh and Poonamjit Singh from Continental Institute of Engineering and Technology (CIET) were declared best male athletes during the annual sports day function held here to commemorate founders’ day celebrations at Continental Group of Colleges (CGI), while Pawandeep Kaur was declared best woman athlete.
S. Didar Singh Bhatti –MLA Fatehgarh Sahib inaugurated the sports day function. Function kick started with march past ceremony wherein five contingents from the faculty and students participated. Highlight of the day was display of two army bands- 3 Dogra and IRC from the Punjab Police.
Col Karamjit Singh, the Institute Director, said that the celebrations are a part of the enthusiasm that’s witnessed in young generation. The results of athletic events are as follows.
For 800 m Race the first, second and third position holders are Poonamjit Singh of CIET, Gursimran Singh Bhangu of CIIS and Sukhwinder Singh of CIET.
In 100m race (Women) Pawandeep, Zareena and Mandeep bagged first, second and third places.
In 400m race (women) Pawandeep Kaur, Zareena Malik and Navdeep Kaur secured first, second and third place.
For 800m race event Poonamjeet Singh, Gursimran Singh and Sukhwinder Singh bagged first, second and third positions. In 1500m race Rajdeep Singh, Sunny Kumar and Shaminder Singh secured first, second and third place.
In 1500m race Rajdeep Singh, Sunny Kumar and Shaminder Singh secured first, second and third place. For 4X400m Relay Jaskaran Singh & team, Kamal & team and Pawanpreet & team secured first, second and third place.
In short put (men) Sushant Korpal, Harvaneet Singh and Hiteshwar Singh students secured first, second and third place.
In short put (women) event the winners were Amanjot Kaur, Ramanjot Kaur and Balwinder Kaur. In long jump (Men) event Jaskaran, Haramadeep and Sukhwinder secured first, second and third place.
In long jump (women) Pawandeep Kaur, Simran Kaur and Amanjot Kaur students secured first, second and third place. In high jump (men) event Akash, Harmanjeet and Varinder Singh secured first, second and third place.
In discus throw (men) Arshpreet Singh, Gurpuran Singh and Arshdeep Singh bagged first, second and third place. In discus throw (women) Manjeet Kaur, Rupinder Kaur and Amanjot Kaur bagged first, second and third place.
In javelin throw (men) Harmandeep Singh, Navkamal Singh and Ashok Kumar secured first, second and third place. In javelin throw (women) Manjeet Kaur, Amanjot Kaur and Vipinjeet Kaur secured first, second and third place.
In 100m Faculty Men the winners were Simranjeet Singh, Gurmail Singh and Rajesh Joshi. For 100m Faculty Women race event Paramsunil, Puneet and Anmolpreet bagged first, second and third positions.
