Government College Mohali picked the overall championship trophy of Punjabi University youth festival that concluded at Rayat College of Law, Sahauran campus today amidst applause and enthusiasm.

Government College, Ropar was declared first runner up, while S G T B Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib walked away with second runner up title.

Renowned Punjabi singer Pammi Bai adjudged the bhangra event. Bhangra teams from various colleges gave judges a tough time in marking the best team. The colorful and vibrant fest concluded on high note of enthusiasm with winners eager to participate at the next level.

Pammi Bai aka Paramjit Sidhu was the guest of honor of occasion, while Dr D S Dhillon, chairman Punjab School Education Board was the chief guest. Pammi Bai spoke to youngsters about Punjabi culture and tradition and the way such youth festivals keep youth in touch with Punjabiyat.

Vice-chairman Rayat-Bahra Group of Institutes, S Gurvinder Singh Bahra said that the college had specially constituted an organizing committee entrusted with the sole job of holding youth fest successfully.

He thanked the organizing committee, guests, officials from Punjabi University Patiala and the students for making the fest a success. Bahra added that Rayat-Bahra Group is committed to imparting quality education to its students through every possible means.

Government College Ropar was picked overall trophy for music, S G T B Khalsa College, Anand pur Sahib was awarded for overall dance performances, Government College Mohali walked away with overall trophy for theatre performances, fine arts and literary competitions.

In mime event Maharaja Braham Sagar Brhamanand Bhuriwale College, Tibba Nangal, Ropar secured first place and International Divine College of Education, Ratwara Sahib, Mohali secured second place. In skit competition Government College Mohali and S G T B Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib secured first and second place respectively. In bhangra event Government College Ropar and Government College Mohali secured first and second place.

For debate event Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College Anandpur Sahib was declared first and Shivalik Hills College of Education Patti Anandpur Sahib secured second place. In elocution contest Government College Mohali and Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College Anandpur Sahib secured first and second place.

In poetry recitation contest Government College Mohali and Amar Sahid Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College, Bela, Ropar were adjudged first and second. In folk song singing contest teams from Amar Sahid Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College, Bela, Ropar and Shahid Bhagat Singh Khalsa College For Women, Padiala were declared first and second.

In folk orchestra category teams from Government College Ropar and Rayat & Bahra College Of Education, Mohali were declared first and second. In western group song event Rayat & Bahra College Of Education Mohali and Shivalik College of Education & Research Mohali secured first and second place.

In western solo song teams from Rayat & Bahra College of Law Mohali and Rayat & Bahra College Of Education Mohali secured first and second place.
