1st Annual Convocation of Rayat – Bahra College of Education
Mohali , April 17. The Rayat-Bahra group took another major step forward by conducting first ever convocation of Rayat – Bahra College of Education here today in the Campus at Sahuran, Mohali .
As many as 300 students of RBCE were privileged to receive the bachelors degree from the renowned educationist, Dr Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, who was the chief guest at the convocation. Students, who passed out in three previous sessions 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08 were awarded degrees today.
The students of previous sessions were awarded prizes for their academic achievements. Manbina Sethi (1st), Nancy (2nd) and Rupinder Kaur (3rd) for the session 2005-06, Seema Saini(2nd position in the university & 1st in the college) Inderdeep Kaur (2nd), Varun Bansal (2nd) and Pooja Pandey (3rd ) for the session 2006-07. Anupreet Kaur (1st), Nancy garg(2nd) and Jagwinder Kaur (3rd)for the session 2007-08.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice Chairman Rayat-Bahra group said “ We have 100 per cent result in all the three sessions with more than 21 students securing 75 per cent and above in all the three batches.
‘Maximizing the capabilities of youth to enable them participate in National development is the major challenge before the teachers of tomorrow, was the keynote of the Convocation address of Dr. Jaspal Singh. Praising the efforts of the college and exhorting the students, Dr Jaspal Singh asked the graduates to acquire high performance, work culture, greater stress on quality, value addition, rapid automation and exemplary professionalism. Teachers’ commitment, competence and resourcefulness are responsible for transforming the input into output for curriculum and instructional processes to provide world class standards to enable the enthusiastic young graduates to compete in the fast rejuvenating 21st century, advised Dr. Jaspal Singh to the young energetic teachers.
Dr. Indu Rihani, Principal, Rayat & Bahra College of Education, presented the annual report of the college highlighting the academic, cultural and co-curricular achievements of students. She congratulated the achievers and called upon them to face the challenges of life with a positive attitude while striving for excellence in every sphere of life.
Earlier the session started with rendition of the shabad gayan and it ended with the singing of the national anthem.
