15 awarded degrees at CIIS- AYR convocation
Mohali, April 24: As many as 15 students of Continental Institute of International Studies, CIIS, were conferred upon with graduation degrees at the 2nd annual convocation of CIIS- AYR students organized here today at plush lawns of CIIS campus. Students in the streams of Engineering, Creative Industries, Biotechnology and Business were given away the degrees after successful completion of the foundation programme being conducted jointly by CIIS and AYR College, Scotland. The degrees were given by Dr. Abhijit Mukherjee- Director of Thapar University, Patiala. The foundation programme would enable the students to carry ahead with their further studies abroad to seek Higher National Certificates/ diplomas and Degrees in Scotland.
The impressive convocation ceremony had Dr. Abhijit Mukherjee- Director of Thapar University, Patiala as the Chief Guest alongside Dr.D.S.Dhillon, Chairman, Punjab School Education Board, as the Guest of Honour . Special guest on the occasion were Ms. Sue Allard- National Principal of Natcoll Designing technology, New Zealand, Christina Singh-Deputy Manager (British Library), Lt Col B S Sandhu, President, CIIS Educational Society, Lt Gen K S Mann, Advisor, CIIS, Mr Devinder Sandhu Vice President CIIS Educational Society and Mr Ariban Dass, Coordinator CIIS-AYR programme.
The remarkable function saw degrees and certificates being given away by the Chief Guest which was followed by distribution of awards to students. Ramandeep Kaur was adjudged as ‘Student of the Year’ in Engineering, Kulbir Kaur and Rupinder Kaur in Creative Industries, Jaspreet Singh in Biotechnology and Sukhjinder Kaur in Business.
Addressing the gathering and pass outs earlier, Dr. D.S.Dhillon expressed his heartfelt pleasure at visiting CIIS campus and asserted that CIIS- AYR partnership model is revolutionary in the Indian scheme of things with a booming economy and tremendously qualified and talented human resources pool. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Abhijit Mukherjee, Chief Guest, expressed optimism for Indian students who stand to benefit out of the CIIS AYR partnership model. While congratulating students Lt Col B S Sandhu said that with CIIS AYR degrees in hand students are now well equipped to meet any challenge of the job industry worldwide even as they would be pursuing higher education in Scotland.
