Talking to the media Col. B.S. Sandhu (Retd.), President, CIIS shared about the Co-operative Education program which formally integrates a student's academic studies with work experience in Co-operative employer organizations. “The Industry-Academia partnership is the most vital component to make any academic program more career oriented and successful in the job market. It is very important to have industry participation in shaping the future of the next generation technocrats. Co-ops undertaken by students help to shape the effectiveness of our programs and ensure that programs continue to meet the needs of both the students and the industry.”, he added.
According to one of the Co-op employers, Co-op work-term is a good concept that is followed in CIIS as it provides students with industrial exposure and practical experience. Such regular work-terms also facilitate the students to grow as confident professionals. CIIS students have been efficient and effective in the workplace, increasing the productivity of the organizations. The Co-op concept and regular industrial visits are accepted and warmly welcomed by the various industries.
