BJP supports demands of agitating polytechnic lecturers

Pay polytechnic lecturers as per sixth pay commission

Chandigarh, September 2

Haryana state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that staff falling under polytechnic institutes be paid as per recommendations All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and that of sixth pay commission.

Supporting the agitation of polytechnic institute staff members, BJP’s state president Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjar said that when BJP government comes to power it would fulfill all the demands of these employees.

In a press statement issued today, Gurjar added that unrest amongst agitating employees is writ large. The staff members of polytechnic colleges are on a warpath to get their pay packages as per recommendations of AICTE. At the same time, the non-teaching staff members of these institutes are demanding pay parity with the center government employees.

The state government has recently dismissed principal of Hisar polytechnic college, Azad Singh Rathi. Both teaching and non-teaching employees are demanding his immediate reinstatement. Gurjar said that BJP supports these demands unconditionally.

He alleged that state government had adopted biased policy in giving pay packages as per recommendations of sixth pay commission to employees of various sectors. “Due to this prejudice, employees have no other option but to agitate,” he added.

The recommendations have not been fully implemented for college lectureres, while no decision has been taken to bring employees of various municipal councils under its ambit, making them adopt agitation path.

Already the non-teaching staff members of state universities and colleges have gone on three-days strike against not been given revised pay scales.

At the same time, many lecturers have resigned from their posts at universities of Kurukshetra and Murthal for not being given deserving salaries.

While protests from all quarters are getting stronger each day, government has not even bat an eyelid in this context.

The entire education system has collapsed due to ongoing protests, strikes and agitations. Future of students is at stake.

Gurjar added that discontentment amongst teaching and non-teaching staff of education community is a proof that Congress has failed to ensure equality in state. Its developmental projects have revolved around its own people, leaving the common man out of its orbit.

The regime of BJP government in state will ensure that no group is left to agitate and everyone’s demands are fulfilled.
