Shemrock Senior Secondary School holds annual day


Annual day celebrated at Shemrock Senior Secondary School

Mohali, November 8
Shemrock Senior Secondary School Mohali celebrated its annual day on November 6 and November 7.
Programme commenced with a melodious rendering of the national song Vande Mataram followed by the school song.
Air Cmde (retd) SK Sharma welcomed the gathering and headmistress Ms. Prineet Sohal informed them on initiatives taken by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to de-stress students. She welcomed the paradigm shift from examination to better pedagogy.
The culture programme began with a peace dance praying for harmony in the world. Choreography presented by students of class ninth highlighted the evils of dowry system and the need to educate girl child. Students of class sixth presented a medley of patriotic songs. The students of class eighth addressed need to save earth through their dance heal the world.
The folk dances Sammi, Jhummar, Dandiya, Bhangra and classical dance Kathak brought alive the varied culture of India. Western dances fusion, flip flop and salsa had the audience tapping their feet to the lively beats.
Students of classes fifth and sixth presented English plays Generosity and Where Fools Rule. The Hindi play Police Wale Duhlaneya Le Jayenge was a comment on the illegal immigration system which lures many innocent people in its trap.
During the annual day celebrations, 34 students were awarded for full attendance and 76 were awarded for academic excellence.
Cent per cent students participated during the two days cultural and academic extravaganza. The entire programme was woven together by masters of ceremony Ms. Vanya and Ms. Ramneek of classes tenth and ninth respectively. The Shemrock choir delivered the musical backing and many items were presented on live music.
