People of the tri-city now have an opportunity to explore lifestyle and abundant business opportunities in New Zealand at a two-day New Zealand Invest 2010 fest being held at PHD Chamber of Commerce on January 30-31.
Addressing media persons here today, Sanjeev Toora, Director, NZ Financial Solutions Ltd and Property Investment consultant, Ms Tanya Kwasza of Catalyst2 said that New Zealand cricket legend, Sir Richard Hadlee will promote New Zealand as a lifestyle destination during this fest.
Sanjeev observed, “This is the best time for investors to foray into NZ as well as enjoy the high standards of living the country has to offer. The ongoing bilateral free trade agreement negotiations between India and New Zealand will increase trade volume between the two countries forging friendly ties.”
The event is spread across three cities spanning two days each in Delhi on January 23-24 and Chandigarh January 30-31 and for a day at the Hotel Park Plaza, Ludhiana on January 28.
At New Zealand Invest 2010, investors and entrepreneurs will receive a golden opportunity to learn about business prospects in New Zealand.

Mohali, January 27, 2010: Amay, Toshani, Avreet and Sajneet were adjudged as ‘Shemrock Healthy Baby’ in their respective categories of A- 1 year to 1.6 year, B-1.6 year to 2 year, C- 2 year to 3 year, D- 3 year to 4 year, during a scintillating ‘Shemrock Baby Show ‘10’ which was organized here today to showcase the spectacular talent of little kids of tricity. A splendid display of self carrying and dressing sense was accentuated by equally gripping on- stage presentations amidst thumping beats and dazzling lights. Even as the campus reverberated with popular beats, a spell bound audience watched in amazement the beauty of it all.

While in the category A of 1 year to 1.6 year Amay stood first, Harleen second, Adeep third , in the category B of 1.6 year to 2 year Toshani stood first, Vijita second, Amolak third, in the category C of 2 years to 3 years Avreet stood first, Ayaan second, Aaditya third, in the category D of 3 year to 4 year Sajneet stood first, Ananya second, Tanvi third.

As the colorfully dressed tiny tots moved up the stage in varied hues and attires, judges had an equally busy time assessing the participants. A medical check up camp for participants and parents by a team of doctors was organized even as fully decked up activity rooms were agog with hectic activity. Bouncy, Train ride, Tattoo making, games, magic show, puppet show and portrait to each participant added to the fun amongst the cute kids who had an equally exciting time.

Speaking about the baby show Mr S K Sharma, Principal, Shemrock Secondary School remarked that baby shows are an exciting opportunity for parents and kids to learn and demonstrate self presentation skills. While participants in the Baby show were awarded with participation certificates, the winners in various categories were given away prizes by Mr. A.S. Bajwa, Chairman, Shemrock Secondary School.

Small Wonders kids celebrate Republic day

Republic day celebrated at Small Wonders School

Mohali, January 25
The tiny tots of Small Wonder School, phase VII Mohali celebrated Republic day with great enthusiasm and fervor.
Celebrations started with unfurling the tricolor followed by students of class-II and III clad in tricolor dresses singing patriotic melody hey vandainye bharat. The children’s performance echoed the determination and braveness of Indians. The song was a resonance of thought of pride to be an Indian.
Children also paid tributes to Mahatama Gandhi, the father of nation, with songs like Choti Si Chaal Hai Unki highlighting his simplicity and contribution to our country.
Students of class II girls danced to the tunes of songs Desh Mera Rangeela depicting beauty of India. Class III girls danced on Rang De Basanti song and paid tribute to the freedom fighters.
Harmanpreet of class III recited patriotic poems and Palakshi of class III student too shared her views with other children about Republic day.
Teachers briefed students on the Republic day celebrations at national capital New Delhi. They were informed about tableaux of various states and colorful dances taken out as procession during national parade, depicting our country’s diversity.

Students of Ashmah International School celebrated Republic Day at school campus.
Many students dressed up as Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Indira Gandhi, and Mahatma Gandhi etc. the young minds spoke about great leaders, who worked selflessly and took India on the path of progress.
The celebrations took color with students dancing to tunes of Jai Ho and sabse aage honge Hindustani depicting the gusto of Indians. Little ones from playway and nursery classes recited patriotic rhymes. A quiz competition was held and the topic was our freedom fighters wherein students participated with an enthusiasm.
Principal, Mrs. Roopinder Ghuman, while addressing the students, told them about importance of this golden day. She urged them to watch the Republic Day parade on television and be a part of the national celebrations.

Bathinda, January 24: A special motivational workshop for parents titled “The making of next generation WHIZ KIDS” was organized at Chabbra Resort by The Millennium School today. The Workshop offered a penetrating insight into the multidimensional approach towards effective parenting. The Millennium School, a first of its kind workshop shed remarkable light into the art of bringing up children through a synergized effort on part of parents and teachers. With special emphasis on optimization of endeavors on part parents and teachers alike, the workshop introduced to over 300 participating parents from Bathinda unprecedented guiding tips for effective parenting tips.
In a clear departure from the practice of having lectures and addresses at such workshops, this workshop, instead, focused upon the challenges and issues vital to parents through power packed interactive seminar.
As experts emphasized upon the importance of time spent with children as extremely crucial, the need to strengthen bonds with kids through meaningful time spending was termed as decisive. Dr Bindu Rana, a noted Child Psychologist and Head of R&D at Educomp Solutions Ltd, India's largest education company listed sharing responsibility amongst parents, establishing routine in intermingling with children, limiting time spent on TV, newspaper and social obligations were termed as essentials for healthy upbringing from parental perspective. Carving special time for kids' activities through planning and special weekends and allied gestures were discussed as major strengthening factor.
This was followed by a skit called ‘The Time Robber’ which drove home the point(nothing quite gets a message across as powerfully as a humorous skit depicting a real life situation) that the greatest gift that parents can give their children is a commitment of time. Each of the parents then actually filled out an Arrest Warrant in which they identified ways in which they will spend more time with their kids.
Accepting the fact that parenting in the 21st century is possibly one of the most challenging jobs, the two hour long workshop addressed core issues pertaining to upbringing of kids. Stressing the need for positive praise, motivation, approval and endorsement to nice works of children, the experts called for need to set personal examples through parents' conduct to be imbibed and imitated by children.
Even as multi media tools were aptly used to drive home some vital concerns, traditional modes like skit and musical presentations added upto the interest of parents who were absorbingly riveted throughout the workshop. Chandigarh, January 24
Chandigarh is hosting Naviknee 2010, an international symposium, to study recent advancements in knee replacement surgery on January 29 and January 30.
While talking to media persons today, the senior consultant orthopedician, Fortis Mohali, Dr Harsimran Singh, who is also organizing secretary of the coveted conference said, “Over thirty experts from all over India and abroad are scheduled to take part in the conference.”
Dr Harsimran said pioneer of computer navigated surgery from Germany, Dr Frank Lampe would speak on role navigation in joint replacement surgeries.
“With recent medical advancements conventional methods are replaced with innovative techniques aiming at giving maximum comfort to patient with minimum trauma and hospitalization,” he said.
Dwelling on the finer aspects of computer navigated knee replacement surgery, Dr Harsimran said that there are very few trained surgeons in India.
“Added to this, the lack of concern in general public is cause of main concern. During this conference we would aim at spreading awareness among the medical fraternity and patients at large about the technique over the old conventional method,” he said.
Elaborating more about this technique Dr Harsimran said that this procedure involves a sophisticated computer software programme that is used to calculate angles of the knee and plan absolutely correct bone cuts and size of implant. This precision totally eliminates any chance of human error, which is very much possible in old conventional method.
“This leads to faster recovery, less pain, longer life of the implant, more comfort, and no chance of re-surgery due to any human error,” he added.
He added that during conference Dr Ramesh Chandra from Hyderabad would deliver inaugural address. Dr. Avtar Singh from Amritsar will share experience of (TKR) total knee replacement with Ortho pilot, Dr. EG Mohan Kumar from Kerala would speak on usage of ortho pilot in TKR and tips n tricks by soft tissue balancing with ortho pilot by Dr. Vrajesh Shah from Baroda will be presented.
Dr. Harsimran Singh would speak on challenges in navigated TKR and Dr Frank Lampe would share his experiences with Ortho pilot Navigation.
